A new home for the blog

March 4, 2008

As you’ve probably noticed from reading this, I’ve moved the blog on over to wordpress.com. I just like the interface better than Blogger. It was nice enough to import all of my previous posts.

Possible problems brewing in Ohio?

March 4, 2008

From CNN:

Voters in Jefferson County in eastern Ohio will be allowed to cast ballots
over the next 10 days because flooding might prevent them from getting to their
polling places Tuesday, a state official.

Could this be setting up a protracted battle over Ohio to draw this out even longer? I smell a rat.

Energy Is Low

March 4, 2008

Tired and without an awful lot of energy today. I haven’t been sleeping well lately and had a bit of a flare-up in my back last night. I’m going to just float with it right now. I know what appointments I need to keep and what things I need to accomplish today. Beyond that, I will accomplish what time and energy permits me to do.

Super Tuesday Part Deux

March 4, 2008

Is this the day that kills or extends Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign? There are primaries today in Texas, Rhode Island, Ohio and Vermont. The momentum is clearly in Obama’s court, but Clinton refuses to go away. All signs point that even if she loses big today she will not concede.

Meanwhile the far right are encouraging members in open primaries to vote for Clinton because they are scared of how McCain would fair against Obama. New York has a closed primary system: you can only vote in a primary if you are a registered member of that party. At one time I thought that was kind of a dumb system, but now I’m seeing the wisdom behind it. The only problem I still have with it is that it leaves independents like myself out in the cold when it comes to casting a vote to help select presidential candidates.

Here’s how my vote would go in November as of right now:

Obama v. McCain: Obama

Clinton v. McCain: I honestly don’t know. I can’t see myself voting for Clinton and McCain used to be a politician I respected until he sold out to the christian coalition after being smeared and destroyed by the Bush campaign in 2000. I might be tempted to vote third party or maybe I’ll just go bowling instead.
