With Terry McAuliffe vowing to take the campaign all the way to the convention, is the DNC doing the equivalent of what the GOP considered with Mike Huckabee (Huckacide)?
Florida and Michigan
March 6, 2008So Howard Dean wants MI and FL to have a re-vote. Why is this quote at the bottom of the article seem to conflict with that?
“The rules were set a year and a half ago,” Dean said. “Florida and Michigan voted for them, then decided that they didn’t need to abide by the rules. Well, when you are in a contest you do need to abide by the rules. Everybody has to play by the rules out of respect for both campaigns and the other 48 states.”
So having a re-vote is playing by the rules? They broke the rules, however ludicrous they may be, and thus should be subjected to the penalties.
Personally I think the whole order of primaries is absurd. How about setting the order to match the order of states ratifying the Constitution?
The Agile Manifesto – Principle 2
March 6, 2008Principle #2 – Welcoming changing requirements, even late in development. Agile processes harness change for the customer’s competitive advantage.
This is a core tenet of Agile development: to expect and even welcome change. Conceptually I understand the reasoning behind it and can see the value, but in the real world I think it can break down. If change happens late in the development cycle, does that also mean the release date changes? Does that mean quarterly revenue estimates need to be remade? Does that mean the sales force needs to be reined in? Every change has an impact and change for change’s sake can not be made blindly as even the smallest change may have unforeseen ripple effects.
Thursday
March 6, 2008One of the nice aspects to riding the bus is I get to nap on the way to work if I choose, which I did so today. Again I mysteriously awoke at 4-something AM which has been my pattern for the last week or so. Fell back asleep and then struggled to get out of bed once my alarm went off at 5:30. I wasn’t wide awake at 4, otherwise I might have gotten up and done something; I simple awoke, looked at my clock and then went back to sleep. This may be related to my caffeine struggles.
I think I will take an every-other-day approach to continue my weaning off of the stuff. I didn’t have any caffeine (aside from incidental amounts in chocolate) on Tuesday, but caved in to a Mountain Dew yesterday. Today I will make a strong effort not to have any and we’ll see how that goes.
Spent some time with H last night going over some workbooks. I introduced the concept of subtraction (she’s been working on addition) and she seemed to grasp it easier. I’m enjoying this time with her (have done workbooks with her the last 3 nights). She was enjoying it too and took a break to teach me a song from her music class. Her mind is growing and it’s fun to watch.
Playing the baby name game right now… I think we’re leaning towards Lily Ann for the moment.
