Eliot Spitzer’s Fall From Grace

March 10, 2008

Spitzer, who was elected by a record landslide as NY’s Governor in 06 has been plummeting in the approval rankings between TrooperGate and his plan to offer drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.  He may have just reached the point of no return

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer apologized to his family and the public today after a report that tied him to a prostitution ring. The New York Times reported today that Spitzer has told senior administration officials that he was involved in a prostitution ring.

Unintentional Plagiarism

March 10, 2008

So I came up with what I thought was a really nice slow chord progression to build a new song on top of.  After playing it a bunch I realized that I was completely ripping off a song by another artist.

The progression is  [:| C#m-E-B-G# |:]

The name and artist of the song is left as an exercise for the reader.

Vatican lists new sins, including pollution

March 10, 2008

I have periodic issues with the Catholic Church (note, the two capital “C”s) but this is encouraging to see them embracing global warming as a real problem and promoting it as the moral issue that it is.  I wonder how the right-wing neo-cons who claim to corner the market on Christianity feel about this?

Thou shall not pollute the Earth. Thou shall beware genetic manipulation.

Modern times bring with them modern sins. So the Vatican has told the faithful that they should be aware of “new” sins such as causing environmental blight.

At our local (catholic) church there is an environmental group that meets once a week.  It looks interesting and I think I’m going to go to their meeting this week.  Might be a good chance to meet new people and perhaps enact positive change.

Back in the Office

March 10, 2008

Was out sick on Friday so no blogging. I’m doing better this morning, although it didn’t help my back that I completely wiped out yesterday slipping on a book one of the kids left on the basement floor.

Saturday I spent some serious time in the studio for the first time in quite a while. Positives: I have a minute or so recorded of 7ateNINE and it may be the best thing I’ve ever written. Negatives: I wrote some lyrics on the way home Thursday to a song tentatively called “Why Will It Be Like This” and setting them to music I just wasn’t happy with them. The central theme of the song is good, but it needs some work. Putting it on the shelf for now.

Caught up with my email accounts this morning. My 30-day trial of the GTD plugin for Outlook is expiring soon and I don’t feel like shelling out 80 bucks for it, so I’m adjusting my system this week to use the same principles, just without the plugin.

Had 469 articles waiting for me in Google Reader this morning. I skimmed through today’s and then marked them all as read. RSS readers are fantastic, but if you don’t keep up with them the information can become stale and overwhelming.

I converted a bunch of AVI files to DVD this weekend and we enjoyed watching some home movies. I also tried to extract the audio of my Growing Up Live DVD, but Audacity kept bombing out after about 30 minutes. My original goal was to record the whole show and then split out the tracks but I might need to record track by track.

MJ really likes Peter Gabriel. He has good taste.
